If regular talking therapy isn’t for you, I offer 1-1 sessions during which we can explore areas of held stress, tension, tightness or discomfort in your body and develop a set of movements and routines that might support you to find more ease.
With increased understanding of the nervous system, it is widely accepted that stress and tension are held in the body; through chronically engaged ‘fight or flight’ responses, shallow breathing, a constant sense of panic and tightness, stiff muscles and restricted movement.
Somatic yoga helps to explore embodied patterns and habitual ways of moving and being that have become unconscious; we literally ‘forget’ how to move and live in our bodies with ease. By bringing some of these habits into awareness, we can begin to re-learn and make conscious choices. That may involve merely softening the shoulders slightly, breathing more slowly, or gently pandiculating into tightness in order to move away with greater clarity, as well as learning tools for calming and toning the vegas nerve.

I offer 1-1 sessions which can be a one-off or a package. I begin with listening to what you would like to experience; maybe an awareness of some foundational poses that can ground you and help to bring yourself into the present moment, or I could offer you some personalised exercises which could help to promote a sense of harmony or fluidity in areas in which you feel stuck.
These 1-1 sessions can take place in my therapy space in central Hove, just off of Church Road, or I can offer home visits.
