Hello I’m Suzanne, a psychotherapeutic counsellor and trauma sensitive yoga teacher based in Brighton and Hove. I have lived by the sea for over twenty years and see the West Pier almost every morning. It is the backdrop for sunrises, sunsets, seaswims and storms and through tides and time it has eroded down to its most skeletal form where it still stands, strong and resilient, out of the waves.
I thought it was a fitting symbol for the name of my practice, which centres around supporting people to tap into their own personal strength and inner structures to see them through life’s many waves.

I have a background in supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse and have a deep understanding of the impact that trauma has on our bodies and our sense of well-being.
I have a therapy room in central Hove in which I offer counselling and 1-1 yoga.
Counselling
My counselling approach is client-centred, which means that I believe you are the expert on yourself and my role is to be alongside you as you tap into the resources that you already have, but may have become separated from through trauma or adverse experiences.
I offer a safe space in which to feel heard and understood so that you can explore troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviours, without judgement. I believe that when we understand why we do certain things, or why we feel a certain way, we can begin to accept ourselves – and when we understand and accept ourselves, we feel more resilient and able to face life with a sense of self-determination.
1-1 Yoga
I offer a space for personalised 1-1 yoga sessions, as I believe that yoga can benefit every body, but group classes are not always the most comfortable or approriate environment. With additional training in therapeutic somatic and yin yoga, I can support you to find a practice that suits you. For example, yoga can help you to get grounded when you feel overwhelmed, breathwork techniques can help to settle your mind and relax your body, and certain movements and positions can help release embodied stress and tension.
